    What changes for your property?

Find your assessed value by address

County address lookup is awaiting live-data verification. You can use the County’s lookup link or enter the taxable assessment from your bill.

Search a street address in Kennett Square Borough. A Kennett Square mailing address can also be outside the Borough.

    What is an assessed value?

The County assigns this value for taxes. It is usually different from a home’s sale price. Use the taxable assessment on your tax bill, after any applicable exemptions. The parcel layer shows total assessment; it does not establish every exemption.

Address searches go directly to Chester County’s public GIS service. This site does not store your address.

The starting $200,000 is an example. Replace it with your taxable assessment or select a County parcel.

Borough property tax only. County and school taxes, utilities, discounts and penalties are not included.

    How the calculation works

A mill is $1 of tax per $1,000 of assessed value. Current Borough rate: 11.8 mills. Proposed rate: 12.8 mills, adding 0.40 for the General Fund and 0.60 for Emergency Management. Multiply your taxable assessment by the millage and divide by 1,000.

What about water, sewer and trash?

The October 7 message proposes 20% higher water use charges, 30% higher sewer use charges and 9% higher trash fees. These are separate from property taxes. The examples below are Borough-provided averages, not quotes for your home.

    Numbers you can trace

534 accounts. Every source cell checked.

We compared all account descriptions, PDF pages and 3,204 amount cells with the detailed budget. Published totals stay as printed. Automated checks identify 13 historical subtotal differences, listed below. This checks our transcription, not the Borough’s financial controls.

Difference means published total minus the sum of listed accounts. Blank amounts are excluded from the sum, not changed to reported zeros. The source does not explain these differences. No published number has been changed.
